I can hardly contain my excitement! I’ve managed to get a few days off and will be going down to Cape Town to see my mummy and daddy. This will be my second visit since the year began and thankfully it’s over Mother’s Day weekend! Though I’ll be there for a few days all I ever take home are gifts and the essentials. This is the only trip packing for which is never much of a hassle.

Happy Thursday to all you Jetsetters!
Today is the last day of this very short or the last few hours standing between you and the long weekend. This is one of my favourite long weekends in the year as all I ever do is be with my loved ones and eat too much chocolate. But for the first time since high school I will not be at home for the festivities and too-much-eating. A few friends and I are heading down to the KZN coast to savour the last sunny days and swim to out hearts’ content. I’ve done my fair share of couch surfing and visiting destinations because friends offered to put me up in their guest bedroom/home office. I’ve finally made my way home after a long, eventful, fun and well-deserved break; I had reminders set to go off every two days that said “you deserve this.” But after three days of being on holiday I found that I didn’t even need the messages to remind me that I deserve the break or to relax and have fun — the life of leisure and I got on famously. So famous in fact I’ve been hoping it lasts forever.

It’s that dreaded time of the year again when jetsetters are all jetting back home with incredible memories from their travels and even more wanderlust. It’s a sad time because most of us travelers have used up our travel funds with last year’s last travel adventure. Whatever little we have in the travel piggy bank we’ll be adding to in order to undertake the next great adventure of our lives — I know I am.

I’m still not back from my holiday at this moment I’m either in bed getting some extra zzzs or a sunscreen ladden blob on the beach or buying a new pair of shoes… OK, the sleep and shoes bit is the most likely. This post borrows a page from our Pop Princess’s book as I am talking movies. These are the best travel tips from the movies.
