I have been planning and running around with my children’s friend’s parents trying to organise schedules and timetables of activities to keep them busy. My youngest child’s life is the one that needs a bit more organising when compared to those of his older siblings. Not only are we heading toward one of the longest weekends of the year but they’re breaking for the first term.

Mother Takes a Day Off
March 5, 2013 by the Sleep Walker
Ever since we first got married hubby has always insisted that I take a “day off” at least once a month. A me-time kind of day where I get out of the house, go to brunch or the spa, go to the movies — without worrying about him, the kids or anything else. And bring back a bag full of glossy magazines and nail polish. Often times my day off coincided with a big sporting event for which I’m always grateful because I realised within the first few months of dating my wonderful man that I could never cope with his sports thing…

Being More Efficient and More Productive
February 20, 2013 by the Sleep Walker
Can we all agree that the weekend never last as long as it used to and that the weekdays fly past when you have deadlines and so much to do in all that little time? Can we agree that there’s not enough time to do everything in one day anymore? That important things like me-time and sleep are falling by the way-side for some? Am i the only one who thinks that morning comes too soon these days?

The Morning After
December 26, 2012 by the Sleep Walker
Happy day after Christmas!
This is but a short post letting you know my plans for today, a wonderful morning after. After she gave me the most creative and sweetest card (with big hearts, big flowers and repeatedly kissing me as she gave it to me) my girl deserves a girls day out.

His and Hers Gifts
December 19, 2012 by the Sleep Walker
It seems like I no longer exist to my mother, all she ever talks about is le boyfriend. Even when making up her holiday gifts list at the very top was my niece James, the boyfriend and everybody else with my name tacked on next the boyfriend’s. If I didn’t already have two brothers I would be convinced that she missed the presence of a son figure.

Mother to a Belieber
December 11, 2012 by the Sleep Walker
Yesterday my daughter woke up lamenting the fact that she lives in the beautiful Kwa Zulu Natal Midlands for the first time in her life. The concert tickets for one Justin Beiber’s tour of South Africa went on sale yesterday.

Baby it’s Cold Outside: Things to do During Bad Weather
October 30, 2012 by the Sleep Walker
Today news people have been counting the damage Hurricane Sandy has inflicted on the east coast of the United States of America. Friends of mine in Germiston, Johannesburg experienced a hailstorm that broke some of the windows in their home; I have also looked on as pictures of the floods in the Eastern Cape have been put on news sites. Though the weather in my part of the world is not as bad or as damaging, it’s still made going outside an option none of us were keen on. This is a bit of what we got up to wile the bad weather kept us indoors. I hope this post gives you ideas of things to do while less than desirable weather conditions keep you indoors.

When it’s Time to Have the Talk
September 25, 2012 by the Sleep Walker
Hi friends,
This past weekend my youngest went on a girl and boy play date. It wasn’t a date (he’s far too young for that) and I’m hoping that it’s going to be about three more years before he goes on an actual date. It was just a movie with his favourite friend from soccer, who is a girl. Hubby and I decided to have the kindness talk, he is two years younger than my oldest son was when we had it with him.

A Shifting State of Mind
September 4, 2012 by the Sleep Walker
The weather is warming up considerably! This means I’ve had a chance to do the first phase of Spring cleaning. This past weekend before anyone in my household was allowed to ring in spring they were all expected to pitch in and do their spring cleaning bit.

Snow day
August 8, 2012 by the Sleep Walker
FNB Bank City via News24This women’s week has gotten to a bit of a historic start, what with the events of yesterday. This is a post about the weather, yes. For weeks now I’d begun to wonder if my (sometimes) mornings off had got as exciting as they ever will. There are only so many manicures I can get. And I fear it’s only a matter of time before my “I’ll just tighten the presentation up” becomes a full blown working session. Yesterday’s morning off, however, was brilliant!
