  1. Room Temperature: Winter Sleep tips

May 13, 2013 by the Sleep Walker

Last week I shared tips and tricks to help you make your bedroom a lot more sleep-friendly. I was struck by two items: keeping the light natural and keeping the temperature neutral. I was struck by these two elements of keeping your bedroom sleep-friendly most especially because it’s almost winter and I thought I’d put together my first winter sleep tips installment.

  2. Let’s Talk About Making Your Bedroom Sleep Friendly

May 6, 2013 by the Sleep Walker

Beautiful clutter-free bedroom. I'd find it hard to sleep in here during the day.

For many people sleep is a luxury, one some, unfortunately, rarely give the attention it deserves. Often young people have parties to attend or tests to cram for; older people have work and bills to worry about. A friend’s son recently said “I wish I had time to sleep. Bt I don’t. I give it six hours each day and if it doesn’t happen, too bad.” This inspired me to put this column together. For those of you who don’t have many hours in your days dedicated to sleep. This is a post about making your your bedroom sleep-friendly.

  3. Starting Small: Reel Gardening

April 29, 2013 by the Sleep Walker

I think I first heard of Reel gardening in 2010. It is such a genius idea that I found myself half wishing I’d come up with of that it had been invented in my 20s. Most you know that I tried several times to start a garden when I was living in the city but failed each time. That often I couldn’t even tend well to my herb pots that lived on my first flat’s window seal. If you have little space in your come (hello flat/city dwellers) ot that yu want to start small then I have just the thing for you.

  4. It’s Earth Day!

April 22, 2013 by the Sleep Walker

    Hello friends!

It’s the 22nd of April, which means it’s been a year since the last Earth day. It’s probably too late in the day to do big projects to commemorate but if you have any in mind save them for tomorrow or the weekend because Earth day is everyday. We should always be grateful to the Earth and replenish the environment whenever we can. Here are some projects you can still do today to celebrate Earth day and be planet earth friendly.

  5. Sleeping Well At a Certain Age

April 15, 2013 by the Sleep Walker

There are a lot of euphemisms used to refer to old people. I’m old, I’ve lived quite a number of years and I’m proud of that. Of all the (sometimes ridiculous) euphemisms used to reference old people my favourite is “women of a certain age.” I like that one. That’s where this post’s title comes from. Today I’m bringing you some tips to help you sleep better when you’re a “certain age.”

  6. Managing Your E-Waste

April 8, 2013 by the Sleep Walker

The growth in technology of the last couple of decades has meant a great deal of progress and moving forward. Technological advancements have helped big multi-national, multi-billion dollar corporations run as nearly completely paperless entities; technology has shrunk the world into a tiny global village and has made most of us global citizens. With the ever-changing and developing world of technology comes a downside.

  7. When Earth Hour is Over

March 25, 2013 by the Sleep Walker

Saturday, as we all know, was Earth Hour day. The lovely Pop Princess penned a little post on that  with a few ideas on what people could do between 8:30PM and 9:30PM while their lights were off. Not only did I enjoy the post but I also found it quite useful, which got me thinking about environment conservation and green efforts in general.

  8. Midnight Snacking

March 18, 2013 by the Sleep Walker

The downside of going to bed at an early time, I’ve found, is the hunger that comes a bit after 2AM. It’s one of those things that cannot be helped. It will affect your sleep whether you try to ignore it or not.

  9. Little Things That Can Make You Happier

March 11, 2013 by the Sleep Walker

I’m always interested in learning what other people do in order to feel happier and to be happier. The short term things that improve your mood like exercise or lift your spirits like a simple act of kindness does.Today’s post is a combination of my favourite mood-boosting past times and that of many of my closest friends. After all, sharing is caring.

  10. Switching Off

March 4, 2013 by the Sleep Walker

In my home we have a small television in the den just off the kitchen. I bought it almost eight years ago when one of my friends suggested that the children who lived with me and those who stayed at the house on an interim basis would like it. I took her advice and bought a small 35CM colour TV.
